The History of Stephen of Hungary Parish | Our Franciscan Values | Discerning Your Vocation | Supporting Our Parish
Recognizing that sound pastoral decisions are informed by the wisdom of the People of God, Pastor Angelo Gambatese O.F.M. established the Parish Council of St. Stephen of Hungary in January 2004.
The documents of the Second Vatican Council recommend the establishment of such councils. Indeed, Catholics have a right and a duty to express their opinion on what pertains to the good of the Church. By establihsing a Parish Council, Fr. Angelo acknowledges the wisdom of this parshioners and expresses his desire to share with them his responsibility for the governance of the Parish. The Parish Council is the principle form of collaborative leadership of the Parish.
The Mission of the Parish Council of St. Stephen of Hungary Parish is to bring Christ more fully into the lives of the parishioners by committing to the following:
The Council is comprised of three officers (the chairperson, vice chairperson and secretary) seven committee chairpersons, four lay members without portfolio, and one representative of the Parish staff.
Members without portfolio are Tess Clendenen, Margaret Grossi, Suzanne Kahn, Marta Kelety, Bekky Robbins, Paul Robbins, and David Wengrod.
The Parish Council meets once a month from September through June on the first Wednesday of each month. Any member of the parish who wishes to present a matter for consideration may do so by submitting the topic in writing to a member of the Parish Council or to the Parish Staff at least two weeks prior to a meeting. The March Council meeting is open to all parishioners.
If you would like to contact the Parish Council, please leave a message or note at the Parish rectory.
